Award-Winning Collaboration

I established and managed an exceptional interdisciplinary team of scientists and researchers to drive innovation at Microsoft. In just a few short years, our cross-company collaborative work with the Future of Work, M365, & Teams led to significant changes in scheduling and presentation methods for virtual meetings, improving the lives of remote workers.

Research & Design

I helped develop the Certified User Experience Professional program at Texas Tech in 2008. Not only am I experienced with many of the most common research methodologies and approaches (e.g., usability testing, psychophysical testing, paper prototyping, focus groups, interviews, task analysis, observation, ethnographic research, surveys, contextual inquiry, competitive analysis, think aloud, heuristic evaluation, test plans, etc.), I developed many new approaches over the years to innovate the research process, including, a Flow-Diagrammatic Approach for Presenting Participant Navigation Patterns during Web Site Usability Testing, and The Blank-Page Technique: Reinvigorating Paper Prototyping in Usability Testing.

Executive & Media Engagement

In a multi-year partnership with the executive office of Microsoft Experiences and Devices, I hosted hundreds of engagements with corporate customers (often with executives from Fortune 500 companies) as well as major media (e.g., Business Insider, Gizmodo, Mashable, Engadget, Wired, ZDnet, The Verge, and Digital Trends) and influencers to showcase our innovation as part of the product design process. These efforts helped generate revenue and gross margin for the business, and supported global press coverage for initiatives and product launches.

Leadership

I am highly motivated and results-oriented, with a compassionate leadership approach, focusing both on the big picture as well as the critical details.

As an Assistant Director in 2007, I helped build and lead the UX Lab at Texas Tech. At Microsoft, I received multiple promotions, most recently to Principal and Director levels. I helped lead and establish the human factors design team at Microsoft, including the building of innovative capabilities and approaches, hiring, and managing of UX researchers, scientists, and support staff. In 2023, I co-founded Huminosity, a human factors product and solution design consultancy.

Seattle is my current home, work, and playground. When I'm not thinking about interior design or tackling DIY projects, you'll find me hitting the trails, soaking up the sun at the beach, or volunteering with youth sports programs.
